This past week Maree and I flew back to Missouri so she could FINALLY meet all of my family :) We stayed at 3 different houses in 4 days... and it was a lot more work with an 8 month old than what I was expecting, but SO worth it!
Madget Family
Our first stop was out to the farm! As you can see, Aunt Julie has been anxiously waiting to meet Miss Maree for a long time now - & I dressed her in pink because it was only fitting that I dress her in Julie's favorite color :) I do wish we lived closer-- Julie would be the BEST babysitter!! Maree couldn't stop smiling at her all night. Also, one thing is for sure, when Maree's hair is longer, I will be french braiding it - just like my Aunt Julie always did to me.

4 Generations
When I have a free minute (which is rare!) and really start thinking about the magnitude of having a child, I'm often awestruck by the cycles of life - and here are a few pictures of what I'm talking about! On my mom's side of the family, my Grandmother Tom Tom is 84 years old & it is crazy to think that 57 years ago.. she was a brand new mother; yet, here she is now, the great-grandmother!! I am sure I'm biased, but I think she is just gorgeous for her age!! It is pretty amazing to see a picture of all 4 generations of women...
The four generations on my dad's side is also remarkable considering my grandma Toots is 93 years old, but doesn't miss a beat! She drives her own car, cans food, makes jelly, & her mind is so sharp that she even remembers to send anniversary cards!! Maree is a pretty lucky lady to have such amazing great-grandmothers...

We really had a great trip - It was so good to see everyone...and because all of us have our own families now, trying to get the extended family together seems to happen less & less often - so I know these times we all get together are special :)
What a great trip! Love the generational pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for capturing the trip so well, Ellen. I can't believe I am the grandmother in a four generation picture!!!!!!!!!!!
