Grandpa Russ & Uncle Jerre
Our last visitors before the baby makes her appearance left over the weekend. My dad and his brother (my uncle Jerre) came for the whole first week of April because it was opening week of baseball and their team, the St. Louis Cardinals, played the AZ Diamondbacks. It was fun for Maree to see Grandpa again, especially because I really think she knows who he is now & she was immediately excited to see him!! They helped out with babysitting a few times, golfed, prospected for gold, and of course, went to all 3 baseball games.

Uncle Matt
My little brother, Matt, flew in on Wednesday to overlap their trip & it is always SO good to see him!! I'm not sure who has more fun - Marc or Matt - but they are quite the team when they hit the town!! Matt got in quite a few things on his trip: he golfed twice, went to a baseball game, enjoyed some time poolside, did some definite damage shopping, experienced some new sushi, and of course, he lived up the nightlife!!

Bells Palsy
Unfortunately for Matt, not only did he come at a time that I'm so big that it makes it hard for me to be that much fun, I also somehow got Bells Palsy while he was here :( (They say it can be stress induced, and I'm thinking that the 6 sets of visitors we had every week in March + all the late nights + being over 30 weeks pregnant, really did me in....) Anyway, on Friday, I noticed little things that were odd (my tastebuds weren't working, my right contact felt really scratchy) & by the end of that day it felt like half of my face had been numbed by the dentist.... and ever since, half of my face has been paralyzed. I've been trying really hard to act like it is fine - mainly because Marc & everyone else has been telling me I will be fine - but I'm pretty terrified... there is no guarantee it will ever go away and it most likely won't go away before 6 weeks. This is super hard b/c it is embarrassing to go out - I feel like I'm talking with a lisp because half of my mouth doesn't work & I even have to drink with a straw so liquid goes into one side of my mouth rather than running down my chin. I can't wear my contacts b/c my right eye doesn't ever blink & the glasses I have are so old/wrong prescription that they are giving me headaches. Ugh, as if being 25 pounds bigger wasn't enough.... I'm trying to stay positive, but it isn't working real well for me yet. These last 5 weeks of pregnancy will go pretty slow I have a feeling.... not to mention that I'm currently trying NOT to think about the fact that I won't be able to even smile at my new baby girl that is about to arrive...
Hi Ellen! I'm creepy and stalking you through your blog since I'm not on Facebook :) I'm sorry to hear about your Bells palsy. Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you these last few weeks and hope that clears up soon for you so you can enjoy the rest of your time pregnant! Take care! Annie (Legg) Brees
