Maree 2.5

2.5?!  How are you this old already?!  You are definitely a joy in our lives.. and your charm usually overshadows all of the challenges you bring us!!  You are very head strong and I keep hoping that some day you will genuinely like your sister… but right now, most things are a battle!  Also, from pretty much day 1, you have preferred men to women… you seemed to know how to flirt ever since your very first smile.  Now that you have a sister to compete with… it is very evident that you want ALL of daddy's attention/anyone's attention at all times.

You're also very physical, and you have been ever since you learned how to crawl at 6 months - you do everything with 110% effort and usually when you fall/trip/scrape your leg… you just look at me and say "I'm fine"… I've honestly NEVER seen such a tough little girl.  Granted, as soon as you don't get your way, the tears come.

I'm not sure if it's your age, but your attention span isn't very long… which keeps mommy VERY busy.  We are constantly moving on to the next thing… thank goodness you like movies though… sometimes we both get a little break :)  Currently, you LOVE all movies that have a lot of singing in them.  Up until recently, you haven't been hearing really at all (I'll get to that)… and now that you can hear, you've suddenly started singing/loving to hear music and it melts my heart EVERY time you try to sing.  You currently love everyone's favorite song right now from Frozen.. "Let it go" and you're a pretty big fan of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Now for your ears/speech.  This has been going on since last July… and it makes my heart hurt.  One thing that makes me feel even worse is actually your height/hair!  Everyone assumes you are 3 and sometimes even 4… and this was when you were 18months-2years old.  People would stop me and tell me that a 3 year old should be talking more clearly… and I would want to cry (but didn't because my face was paralyzed) because you were barely a year and a half old… I didn't think your gibberish was that big of a deal.. you had lots of "words" just no sentences. Anyway, at 19 months you got another ear infection… and because of Ellie being born AND my face being paralyzed… I wasn't as on top of your ears as I should have been.  I was taking you to a specialist and every other week he would suck stuff out of your ear and tell me he could see the tubes…. so we repeated this for months.  FINALLY, in February, we switched specialists and he wanted to do surgery to get new tubes…. right before your 2.5 year mark, we had the surgery.  We learned with all the stuff trapped behind the tubes… that you've been hearing like you were under water…. since LAST SUMMER!!!!! *tear*  I'm so unbelievably sad and upset about this… no wonder your speech is gibberish (although adorable if I must say). At your speech evaluation, they said you are 6 months behind… and wanted to charge 800$ a month for you to go once a week to therapy.  I'm hoping that now that you can hear, you will progress rapidly… because you already are.. and we see this with you finally starting to sing!!!  By 3 years old.. we might re-evaluate therapy. On a side note, you are 30 months old.. and you've had 19 ear infections (I stopped counting after July of last summer)

Anyway, some of your favorite things at 2.5

  • MILK… you would eat/drink etc. this completely if you could
  • Green Machine Naked Juice… thank goodness you like this nasty stuff… b/c it's the only vegetables you will eat
  • Your blankie… I've replaced it because it's so bad, but you only want your original one
  • Your paci… sadly, this is still in our lives
  • Your bottle… UGH.. how I hate this one. I try to limit this to morning and night, but it is so hard to get rid of when you just steal your sisters when I won't let you have one… little do you know that next week we are going cold turkey!
  • Cheese.. obv. this is part of the milk food group
  • Daddy's car - you could go play with his radio constantly.. and his sunroof
  • Swimming.. if we would let you swim everyday, you would
  • You love your privacy when you go potty.. you always tell me to "Stay" and call me back when you're done
  • Favorite words I have of yours: "Wip Gwoss,  One More Time, Cween Up, Hootball, Wuv you, I hold it, Mama hold you, Keeck Ball Daddy,
We love you to pieces (challenges and all) - you bring so much joy to our lives - we love you Miss Maree!!  I can't wait to see how much you progress in the next 6 months!!
