This summer was packed full of Mommy and Maree dates. Because I do dates with Ellie while Maree is at pre-school during the year, I thought it would be fun to do some things with just Maree this summer. Granted we did work in some speech therapy too. Here are some highlights:
Play dates with Marlie
She loves this Play Factory but we rarely get to go because Ellie isn't old enough… so on one of our dates we got to go here… and she fell asleep before I even left the parking lot she played so hard!
Lots of crafts too
Our last date was to Butterfly Wonderland - this was quite something. They had a huge atrium of all sizes and colors of butterflies … and while it is so fun to see them… apparently it is terrifying to a 2 year old if one actually lands on them. Oddly enough, once they land, they don't quick fly away either. One butterfly took a liking to Maree and landed on her skirt… she absolutely lost her mind and was so upset/scared. We weren't allowed to brush them off and we had to wait for the help to come and remove it… as soon as it was removed, it flew right back to her shoulder. Quite the meltdown. She still associates this dress as the dress that the butterfly landed on and she tries to tell everyone about it. So naturally, I had to get her a cool butterfly toy in the gift shop so she didn't remain terrified of butterflies for the rest of her life. It worked :)
